Step-by-Step: Establishing a Partnership in Windows XP Minimize

Before installing MyEMR for the Pocket PC, it is necessary to establish a Partnership with Microsoft ActiveSync.  Below are the step-by-step instructions for establishing a partnership in Windows XP:

  1. Make sure you have the USB connection with the computer.
  2. Connect the Pocket PC (plug in cable or place Pocket PC in cradle).
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts.
  4. Uncheck all Options (you can check these later if you choose).
  5. Click Finish.
  6. The Partnership is complete when ActiveSync says the Pocket PC is synchronized.
  7. Click Tools > Options and re-check Finding, Ink Note, Patient, and Patient Diagnosis, and any other objects you normally sync.
  8. Click OK and allow the Sync to complete.

 Reinstalling MyEMR Mobile Minimize

When a Pocket PC loses it's charge (either from removing the battery or not keeping the unit charged), the Pocket PC is returned to a "factory install" and any software installed, or data will be lost.  If this happens, you can reinstall the MyEMR Mobile software from Micrsoft ActiveSync.  Once you have established a new Partnership, click Tools > Add/Remove Programs from the ActiveSync Menu Bar.  Check the box for MyEMR (Software Motif), then click OK and follow the on-screen and Pocket PC instructions to complete the reinstall.  The Pocket PC will then synchronize all the existing data from the desktop to the Pocket PC.

 Clearing the Object Store Minimize
Clearing the Pocket PC Object Store - ClearOS

You may wish to clear the Pocket PC records prior to re-establishing a partnership.  An example of this would be when changing the databases that the Pocket PC synchronizes.

  1. Remove the Pocket PC from the cradle.
  2. Soft-reset the Pocket PC.
  3. On a Pocket PC, go to Start->Programs->File Explorer.
  4. In the Pocket PC's File Explorer menu, it displays the \My Documents folder by default.  Step backwards to "My Device", "Mobile Device" or "Pocket Device" as applicable to your particular device or manufacturer.
  5. Now you are at the root directory.  Navigate forward to \Program Files\Software Motif\MyEMR
  6. In the MyEMR directory, tap the ClearOS icon, which is a utility to clear the object stores as indicated in Figure 1.
  7. Select Patients, Findings, Patient Diagnoses and Rich Ink Notes, and touch "Clear Selected Stores".
  8. Soft-reset the Pocket PC.
  9. You may now proceed with deleting and re-establishing the desktop and Pocket PC partnership.
  10. When re-establishing the partnership, if presented with "Combine, replace or ignore" options, choose "Replace the items on this device with the items from this desktop.

 ActiveSync: SetMyEMRDatabase Minimize

MyEMR Mobile uses Microsoft ActiveSync to synchronize your Pocket PC data with the desktop data.  In order for ActiveSync to sync properly, it needs to know the location of the MyEMR data (cs_pub.mdb).  Click the EDI button on the EMR Suite Attendant to verify the location of the data (i.e. C:\Program Files\Chirosoft\Data, or for networks, \\SERVERNAME\Chirosoft\Data).  Then on the computer you will sync with, go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\MyEMR and run SetMyEMR Database.exe.  Browse to, and double-click the cs_pub.mdb in the folder where the data is stored, then click OK.
